If the likes of God of War and Jotun have left you hungry for more Norse Myth than look no further than Atone. Atone is a story driven puzzle game heavily inspired by Norse Myth being developed by Wild Boy Studios based in New Zealand.
This is the first game being developed by the small studio of 6 and damn is it an ambitious one. In Atone you will guide Estra (the daughter of one of mankind's last great leaders) on her journey through Midgard. In Midgard Estra will encounter all manner of man and beast, some friendly others not so much.
Atone features Rhythm based battle mechanics and a hand drawn art style reminiscent of Heart Machine's Hyper Light Drifter (one of my favorite games).
Don't even get me started on the music. Having a Rhythm based battle system means that is has to have some pretty amazing music. If the trailer shows us even a fraction of the music featured in the game we are in for a treat. But of course combat isn't the only thing that will challenge Estra on her journey. You will also be tasked with solving incrementally challenging puzzles that will reveal secrets, new abilities and hidden passageways.
Atone is scheduled to release in 2019 for PS4, Xboxone, PC, Mac and Linux.
